Ebook About
They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young, she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead.Only, she doesn’t quite die.If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around. In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will.

Book Famine (The Four Horsemen Book 3) Review :

***Edited to add: I FINALLY finished reading this book. I stand by my original post-the prostitute aspect took up too much of the story. There was no connection for me to Ana OR between the MCs themselves. The writing was not on par with Pestilence or War. And for all the "edits" the book had to go thru (which was one of the reasons it was delayed), there were quite a few errors in the book that an editor should have caught if they were paying attention. Can I jus say, the first time Famine goes down on Ana...ewwwwww!!!! Talk about being thrown out of the story. That was about as unsexy as you can get in that situation. I can't believe Famine was written by the same author that wrote Pestilence and War. Very disappointing.I am not a prude by any means. I enjoy erotica, sexy books, books with kink, etc. That being said, spending the first 3 chapters listening to Ana's inner monologue about her being a bordello girl (sex worker) and her conversations with her "madam" about the old guy she schlepped or how the mayor is a frequent customer was really off putting. I'm all for sex workers' rights, I just don't want to read about their job. I usually adore Laura's books, but I'm struggling to continue Famine. I have absolutely no connection with Ana like I did with the female leads in the other two books of this series. Another issue I have is the writing feels choppy. The sentences don't feel like they transition smoothly like in her other books. It feels stilted.Laura is usually a one click author for me for both Kindle and paperback, but as of right now, I want a refund on the Kindle and will not be purchasing the paperback.
I did not like this installment very much. Famine was awful for most of it, and I couldn't buy into Ana liking him at all. For her part, Ana was an idiot most of the time. She would act surprised when they came upon people and he killed them every single time. Every. Single. Time. Maybe the first time would be surprising, but not any time after that. Literally, she'd flirt and laugh one minute and be covered in blood from his victims the next and act like it wasn't expected. II mean, is she just stupid? Literally ruined the entire book because it happened in most chapters. Unreal.Outside of unlikable characters, the plot was pretty much a spinoff of the last two books so it felt pretty rote. Nothing stood out to make it feel unique or special. Overall, I'm disappointed.
